OUR STORY

brrds-35_low res.jpg

Brrds are Dave & Kerrie Hughes, a husband and wife duo from South Wales.

Having previously played and released music as kraut-poppers formula one and domestic4, two years ago Kerrie and Dave moved to an abandoned farm in the Welsh hillsides.  It was here, in an old barn, that they started writing and recording music under the name Brrds.

Their name comes from a software programme developed in 1986, that could predict birds’ flight patterns.

Shortly after moving into their new home, they made an interesting discovery when clearing out the loft. In a dusty corner, an old box with two old Italian synths and a huge collection of family postcards, some of which were more than 100 years old.

This discovery provided the creative spark for their debut album, Liminal Space, which stitches together the wheezing, crackling synths with snippets of lyrics from the postcards, as the couple re-imagine the stories, relationships, and adventures frozen on the postcards.
